Hi! This week I made a pretty case for my scissors. We have a glass table and my scissors had been scratching it. Now they have a fluffy lined case so they can't do any more scratching!
Here's how to make your own!
You will need:
- Two pieces of lining fleece or felt, bigger than your scissors.
- Two pieces of outer fabric, bigger than your scissors.
- Thread to match your outer fabric.
- Fleece or felt rectangle around 4 cm long and as wide as your button for the fastening.
Place your scissors on to the wrong side of a piece of your outer fabric with the handles sticking out like in the picture below and draw around them.
a. lining fabric
b. lining fabric
c. outer fabric right side up.
d. outer fabric right side down with drawn line.
Cut around the shape, not too close to the stitches.
Turn the case the right way around. It might be tricky, mine was, ask for help if you need it! Use a pen or pencil to turn the very end bit.
Check that your scissors fit. They look snug. Like a sleeping bag for scissors!
Lay the rectangle of fleece on to the case threading it through one of the scissor handle holes.
Mark with your pen a little way in from where the rectangle reaches to like this:
Sew the button on top of your mark.
Cut a slit in one end of the rectangle. Make the slit a bit smaller than your button as fleece is stretchy.
Check that the button goes through.
Thread the rectangle through the scissor handle and mark where it reaches to on the back of the case. Sew the non button hole end of the rectangle on to the mark.
Do up the button and you're done!
